Chime - New Era ID Showcase Mix

The time has almost come for me to make the switch. If all goes to plan I should be debuting the rebrand / reboot for Chime in September and so of course I wanna share EVERY SINGLE ID that's playable with you all early as part of this mix!

I've managed to collate 20 unreleased tracks in total between originals, collabs and the flips I've been putting up here which makes for a 30+ min mix. I hope you're all as excited as I am for all this new stuff.

Another artist that captured my very beginnings of getting into music was Calvin Harris - who at the time (2009) was hitting a huge level of popularity in the UK Pop charts with much more Disco, Indie and Funk vibes long before he became a staple of EDM and House. If there was a single moment I could point to that kickstarted my desire to start making my own music - hell even start PAYING ATTENTION to music - it would be seeing the music video for "Omen" by The Prodigy as part of the promo campaign for the "Invaders Must Die" album in 2009. Putting two and two together to realise this was the same group that made "Smack My Bitch Up" and "Firestarter" all those years earlier made me really connect with the idea of getting properly into music for one of the first times outside of video game soundtracks....

Chime - Subterrain (Deeper Mix)

Okay THIS is a new one!

As part of my rebrand I'm looking to take a few tracks with me into the new style and "Subterrain" felt like a great fit. Not only is it one of my favourites from the Aetherborne album but it's also ripe for a deeper version (both thematically and musically).

So that's exactly what I did - I swapped out the strongly pulsating wobs for darker, sunken ones plus a micro-inspired drum set and holy SHAZ I'm excited to hear how it sounds on a big bassy system.

Another flip of a UK classic! I wanted to try my hand at remixing something all my school mates would know from back in the day and it turned out I had a great idea of how to mess around with the original bass plucks. The cool thing about doing this flips that sample other material is it allows me to go down the rabbit hole of how the producers took and used that original material. For this one I found the original sample material and re-sampled it myself in the same way Disclosure did in order to get a clean version without their FX.

New exclusive early flip for you all! I've been looking back at classic UK tunes outside of bass music that I have a connection to and this was one I landed on to remix.

The original tune was HUGE back in 2008 when George Sampson introduced a huge part of the UK to both this tune and street dance. I actually got way into street dancing for myself following this and it's another tune that I feel strongly connected to from my very early, initial exploration of music from that year.
