Who is Rob Liefield? He was a big-name comic book artist from the 1990's. He worked for Marvel and was the creator behind Deadpool and Cable, and later left to form Image Comics where he rode a wave of popularity with a series called "Youngblood", a sort of X-Men style superhero team.

Guess what mandatory military briefing we had recently?
The briefing got in-depth about the decibel level of noises where hearing range occurs. A certain range of decibels is in the higher pitches, and the examples given were things like lawn mowers. This week I used a more heavily manga-style influence for a comic idea that was suggested to me by a friend and colleague who is also here at Patreon! So thank you to Kit Duplessie for this idea!
I looked up "Medieval Korean Armor" for this one featuring Juni. She is Korean-Japanese but identified primarily with her Korean side from her mother.
Even if it was just a dumb kid with a flashlight, it seemed like KFOR higher-ups wanted a storyboard about it all graphed out in PowerPoint.

I was recently contacted by someone who wanted to purchase some of my old Empires original art-- this was the stuff from the 1990's version, the one where the aliens were turned into various furry Terrestrial animals, anthropomorphics, since the fanzine that was interested in printing them was a "furry" fanzine and that was an editorial request on their part as a condition for publication. I have been cleaning out a lot of old development art and trying to make room for more stuff. Some of the more interesting stuff I found was some development shots of some of my larger starships. I used to give popcorn to my dogs. So of course it became "pupcorn". Turns out that the only reason my young dog ate popcorn was because the old dog ate it. When the old dog died, the young dog revealed that she did, in fact, care for pupcorn.

Pencils for 4 different BOHICA Blues strips are done! I am in the process of applying digital ink to them now, but in the meantime, some quick previews! Above: the Customs inspection process for our bags being shipped home.
Next comic: the long line for the military TSA checkpoint. Yes! We had to go through the scanner and X-ray like everyone else! Crazy stuff.
Turns out, when you die, all your debts come due. Who knew? I recently attended a seminar on things like wills, trusts, and other things and that's what they said.

So I wasn't able to post much this week-- it has been busy; my wife and I have our anniversary and then her birthday all at once... and we went to the local shelter, the Idaho Humane Society, and adopted Daisy Maevis!
I wanted a dog named "Daisy" because my grandparents had a sweet old Labrador Retriever named Daisy. But not just plain ol' Daisy, we were going to name her something cool like "Daisy Mae". But when we got to the pound, we found a sweet girl already named "Mavis", so we just kept the name and compounded it.
I mentioned before that in certain secure areas, we're not allowed to have cell phones. In particular, smart phones, which are known to listen in on people's conversations. It is primarily to direct marketing and advertisements at them, but it could also represent a security breach if folks talk about secret stuff. Dumb phones would presumably be OK.
Even a random coyote would know this! I need ot branch out with more RC merch.

I got two pencils done yesterday for two comics, and they don't really give anything away, so for simplicity I will simply post the two raw pencils here... and post updates later! I went on a 20-mile hike and mountain bike ride today and banged up my knee and almost dehydrated myself (two 32-ounce water bottles are not sufficient in the desert) but nothing will stop me from my art!
And of course, it rained after I got home.

Well, this is what I managed to get finished so far. This has been a much larger project than I had anticipated, and I still don't have the tail done. But the Avenger is pretty much settling in, and this what the results are so far. Interestingly, some of the dimensions didn't work out as I imagined them-- in my earlier works, I drew what looked good from various angles and didn't overly burden my perceptions with thoughts on geometry (or in some cases, continuity).
A little embarrassing as I look closer, now, but what is done is done...
