Hysterical Literature is a 2014 project by artist Clayton Cubitt that aims to explore the dualism of mind and body, "the struggle of one to overpower the other and the possible balance between the two", in a society still unwilling to accept the word 'sexuality' not as a taboo but as a culturally relevant topic that can even interact with art. The name is a winking reference to the Victorian 'evil of the century', female hysteria, cured through the use of vibrators, as seen in the 2011 movie 'Hysteria'.

Hysterical Literature è un progetto del 2014 dell'artista Clayton Cubitt che vuole esplorare il dualismo di mente e corpo, “la lotta dell’uno per prevaricare l’altro e il possibile equilibrio tra i due“, in una società ancora poco incline ad accettare la parola “sessualità” non come un tabù ma come argomento culturalmente rilevante che può interagire addirittura con l’arte. Il nome è un riferimento ammiccante al “male del secolo” vittoriano, l’isteria femminile, curata attraverso l’uso dei vibratori, raccontata anche nel film “Hysteria” del 2011.
