TC Script Ep 265

scra wakes up, sees ky standing on the balcony, dawn light on him. goes out to join him, blanket around shoulders

s: how did you sleep?

K: fine.

S: donā€™t lie. You havenā€™t been sleeping, have you. you need to sleep, Ky. 

K: (turns towards door) the maid came by, breakfast is in10. Theyā€™ve laid out clothes for you in the dressing room. Iā€™ll wait in the hallway. 

K kisses Sā€™s forehead and leaves. s watches him, clutches blanket tighter.

breakfast on the veranda in the sun, the ocean behind, waiters standing to the sides, r+f already seated. ky goes to pull scraā€™s chair out but scra takes it from him

S: iā€™ve got it. thanks. (both sit)

s: where are all the Ravens?

r: off bullying the staff, I suspect. Not to worry, weā€™ve still got our chaperone (gestures to erias in the corner who ignores them)

s:(to f) have they started repair work on the cars?

F: they sent for parts last night, should be a day or two before they get back, and then an extra day for installation.

r: or as long as it takes for them to catch on that youā€™re sabotaging it as fast as they can fix it.

f shrugs: they should be more vigilant. what if i had worse intentions? anyone could tamper with them, apparently. Iā€™m just teaching them a lesson, really.

r: thatā€™s my wife

(both blink in shock and look away)

Birt arrives and addresses Ky

B: My Lord, your guests have made some demands that require your approval. 

(K looks to see raven guards arrive to guard scra)

K: very well.

(k leaves with birt. scra turns to the girls)

S: Kyā€™s not ok. Heā€™s not sleeping, I think heā€™s taking this King thing way too seriously

R: I mean, what do you expect? Boyā€™s been raised like this (gestures to castle), heā€™s basically the embodiment of duty. And now his boyfriendā€™s suddenly a King and all his Redguard training is coming out, and the idiotā€™s generally confused on the best of days, of course thatā€™s gonna mess with his head.

S: boyfriendā€¦.he - we - havenā€™t actually talked aboutā€¦I mean, I confessed, but he didnā€™t reallyā€¦say anything back, or anythingā€¦not that he has to obviously, but now Iā€™m kinda not sureā€¦what we are.

(R and F staring at him, blank faced)

R: thatā€¦idiot. IDIOT! (screams to sky, startling erias. seagulls take flight squawking). Iā€™m gonna murder him. seriously. Itā€™s been months of playing these games. I canā€™t watch it anymore, I canā€™t -

(f grabs rā€™s wrist): im sure he just needs some time to come to terms with it. figure out where he stands now

S: iā€™ve told him where I want him to stand, beside me, not two steps behind at all times.

(scra dad arrive with ky)

SD: son. weā€™ve had a talk and the Lord of the castle has graciously agreed to accommodate our requests, as theyā€™re in your best interest (K rolls eyes). As we will be here a few days, it would be beneficial to fill that time withā€¦catching you up on Avarie customs, history, and what will be expected from you going forwards. 

S: I donā€™t want -

K: Knowledge is your best defense in unknown situations, and never hurts. 

F: heā€™s not wrong

S: but -

K: lessons would include sword training, with me.

(S looks at kyā€™s muscles, his hands. looks away.)

S: w-when do we start?

(F & R rolling eyes in bg.)

(ree and farrah lounging in ocean, farrah sitting on rocks as ree swims, storm clouds in distance)

r: i could get used to this. the sun, the sea, my wife pretending she doesnā€™t loath me. itā€™s like a little vacation.

F: I donā€™t loath you. i just miss what we were, once. when it was us against everything, 

r: (stops joking and looks at her) what a horribly forward answer. you said that just to kill the vibes, didnt you. 

f: maybe im just tired of everyone skirting around the important things.

R: are you serious. youā€™re the queen of skirting. 

f: maybe i want to be more honest, too. ask me a question. any question.

R: (glances at farrahs tech wing) how did you keep going, after?

F: I just donā€™t let the things that happen to me define me. They happened. It was shit. I kept going.

R: why

F: i had too much i needed to do. too many obligations to people. (glances sideways at ree). 

R: We found the crow king after all, huh.

F: We could still go with the original plan, get it to make our parents respect us. me as a researcher, you as an adventurer. us, as a couple. 

R: please. like any of them even matter anymore. Mine havenā€™t mattered to me in some time, to be honest.

F: then why did you search with me for all those years?

R: Because I wanted to be with you, Farrah. I wouldā€™ve followed you forever. 

F: Until you didnā€™t

R: Until I didnā€™t. And Iā€™ll never stop regretting it. 

F: ā€¦if i hadnt left that note, telling you not to look for me, would you have continued?

R: i never wouldve stopped. never. 

F: you always did what i asked

R: i couldnt help myself. 

F: you understand what kyā€™s going through, donā€™t you. better than most, probably.

R: yeah. but i made my choice years ago. and heā€™s still gotta decide between his family, and his future. i just hope he realises that before he loses all of it.

 (storm clouds roll in)

all sitting at dining table for dinner, ky at head of table, scra to his right. rain lashes the windows.

s: (at least kyā€™s eating. thatā€™s a step forward, right?)

gera: the King made good progress on his history lesson with me today.

s: please donā€™t call me that. and we donā€™t need progress reports, thanks.

ree: (snootily) indeed? and did the King make any strides in his etiquette class? from his use of the main course fork during this first course, Iā€™m inclined to worry.

s:(uses the fork to stick his middle finger up at her across the table)

g: (annoyed) weā€™re covering dinner service tomorrow

R: i could volunteer to teach the King if you need -

s: iā€™d rather stab myself with my main course fork

g: enough, this is a civilized -

(Birt arrives, standing by door)

B: Apologies for the intrusion. A guest has arrived, she insists she was invited, despite not presenting an invitation

(all turn as the door opens and Cereea appears, drenched)

C: sorry, mustā€™ve gotten lost in the post. Whatā€™s this i hear about a King?

sorry for the wait on this, i wanted to get the last 2 eps uploaded before the end of the month, then took yesterday off for my bday. back on schedule now though, and still waiting for WT to confirm a relaunch date - will keep y'all posted.
