I recently realized the importance of a subject’s silhouette. When the silhouette is off, no matter how much I add appealing details, they don’t work effectively. It’s like building a pyramid: working on the broad, fundamental parts solidly allows for a smoother flow in the later stages. So instead of drawing an initial sketch, I started by working on the silhouette. This approach also made editing easier and kept the lines minimal, making the drawing easier to read. Rendering everything seems to have drifted away from my recent interests. Drawing the character’s face is extremely challenging. I go through it over and over until I find a satisfactory look. Although the face turns out differently every time, I think I’ve picked up a few tips for drawing a beautiful face. This time, I used a G pen for the line art. Unlike the pen I usually use, which has a lower opacity at the end of each stroke, the G pen doesn’t have that feature. This makes the line art clearer and more effective in conveying the illustration’s message. For parts requiring more detail, I can render them with an opaque pen, allowing me to showcase my style in another way. Please check the attached file for the line art image.
