Hand doctor thinks the pain is neuropathic. He wants to redo the nerve test I had in late May, since he says that not enough time had passed after the first day of that injury for the nerve test to be accurate. He also said that the MRI should have been done with contrast because the thing he looks for can only be seen with contrast. He pressed all over my hand and never gave me any pain except for the one area I told him about, and even that wasn't severe pain. He said that it must be really deep.  He told me he knows I'm not crazy and...

Update

Hey, guys. Things aren't progressing as fast as I would like. I will be out for at least another month (in terms of my regular output).

For those of you who haven't abandoned ship, know that I appreciate your support in this difficult time, and that I plan on returning better than ever as soon as I possibly can.  In the meantime, I will be posting some never-before-seen sketches in the next several days. Stay tuned, and thanks!

Left-Handed Drawings??

Well, guys. I'm out for the rest of this month in terms of my right hand. I'm tired of periodically testing the waters and having it bite me in the ass in the form of pain and swelling. The last two days I've done nothing with it and that's how it's going to be for the rest of this month. It's going to take a long-time of no activity for this thing to heal and for me to get back to using it.

The good news is that I am working on using my left hand. And the results are encouraging , if somewhat messy.

Saw the doctor

 I had the EMG and there is no muscle damage or nerve damage visible. The neurologist put pins in various places and in several vertebrae. And he did not find any compressed nerves or anything that would indicate a need for surgery. It seems to be an irritated muscle in my hand. He suggests physical therapy since it's an old injury. I expect a call back from the doctor who referred me to let me know what to do next. I am going to continue using the ice and anti-inflammatory medication and I expect it to get better with rest. Hey, guys. I just wanted to thank you all for the well wishes and encouragement. I'm still recovering, and I expect to be out at least until next week. Maybe on Monday I can resume light duty. I don't know. It's up in the air at this point.

Tomorrow afternoon I have an EMG scheduled. I don't know if they give results immediately or if I have to wait for the doctor to review the results. In any event, I appreciate all of you. I will of course got caught up as soon as I'm able. Rest assured of that.

Recovery

Hey, guys. I just want to let you know that for the next several days at least I will be recovering from a little relapse I've had with my hand injury that some of you know about. I just need a little bit of time off to heal a strained muscle in my palm. I have an appointment to have a nerve test done next week to finally see the extent of the damage.
