This Used to be About Dungeons, ch 8, Late Meals in a Quiet Kitchen

Effective today, This Used to be About Dungeons will be moving to a three times a week schedule, Monday, Wednesday, Friday. If the backlog, which is currently twenty chapters, slips below ten chapters, I'll probably scale back to twice weekly, but there's at least a month before that happens assuming that I do basically no writing. Because of this, chapters will instead have a 24 hour window of being early rather than 48, in order to keep non-patrons from being permanently behind, which I think would be bad for discussion/community....

This Used to be About Dungeons, ch 1-3

This Used to be About Dungeons is a comfy slice-of-life adventuring story that occasionally features dungeons.

Mostly it's about walking in the woods with a friend, looking for mushrooms to put in your soup, or haggling with the guy selling squash, or taking care of a neglected garden. It's putting some jam on shortbread biscuits. And yes, sometimes you go down into the dungeons with your friends, and you kill monsters there, or disarm traps, but when you come out, you realize you've found the perfect magic item to give to one...

Worth the Candle, epilogues 1-3

... of a planned eight.

I think that the story as it stands prior to these epilogue chapters is "complete", and it would be perfectly fine to have stopped there, both for me as an author and you as a reader. That said, there were still things that I wanted to pick at, and elements I wanted to interrogate, and I do think it's nice to have everyone have a known trajectory when you finish, so they're not just floating in liminal space.

The rest of the epilogue chapters will be out this week, and then I'll be on to the next thing, w...

Worth the Candle, Post Mortem and Apocrypha

The post mortem for Worth the Candle is here, if you'd like to read it, and gives my general thoughts on how things went and what went wrong. tl;dr: pretty good

I'm not sure the Apocrypha is worth reading, and would caution you not to think of it like "more" Worth the Candle.

You can instead think of this like being deleted scenes from a DVD (boy do I miss DVD extras). As with those, a lot of the time you think to yo...

Worth the Candle, ch 246 [Reflections at the End]

Well, here it is. There will likely be some epilogue chapters after this, but I'm not entirely sure about that. Barring any abrupt changes in my plans for the future, the next serial will start roughly a week after the final epilogue chapter, or after I've finished some of the side story stuff I was planning to do, if I do it. As far as outstanding obligations, I still need to write most of the exclusions doc, which I've been languishing on, in spite of having put in the work on an extensive outline. It'll get done, eventually. There's also ...
