(Work in progress) For the finished demo I'm trying to make the lessons a bit clearer. I've heard a lot of players struggling to pass them, especially the exercises where you have to change between gaits.
The main reason behind this I believe is that there aren't clear enough instructions on when precisely the gait needs to be changed. In the finished demo, you will be awarded different rosettes (common, bronze, silver and gold) based on your performance in the competition. Each rosette has a certain penalty and time goal.
The realistic jumping mode forces you to slow down more than without it, making it harder to reach the time goals. To make competing with it fairer, using the setting will now give you a 3,5% deduction of time. Because of this new rule the setting can no longer be changed in the middle of a competition.

The update 0.9 has been the biggest update the demo has had, hence why the demo now takes up about 30% more space than it did before, and also requires three installer files instead of two. The installation process is the same though, just one more file to download...

The competition courses which were originally designed for the smaller snowy arena have been moved indoors. You will no longer be able to compete these courses after the next update, instead they will be available in Free Riding mode to practise with.
The outdoor competition arena has newly designed Beginner, Novice and Intermediate courses better suited for the arena size. The Youth Prix and Royal Cup courses will stay the same.
Update 0.9 will be released next week! The free demo will also receive an update during that week, were some of the newer content, like the new environment, will be added to it. The horses Rose and Damon and competitions will stay patreon-only.
There is one more update left for the demo, which will be demo 1.0. ๐ After that I will have to switch onto working on the official game. The official game Tales of Rein Ravine is planned to be released on Steam during 2023.

An element like this was already in the early versions of the demo, but I took it out to tweak it. In the upcoming update it's coming back. The feature highlights the specific jump that the horse is seeing and reacting to. It will be turned on by default but can be turned off in the settings.
In the future I'd wish to be able to make the animation pulsate in the rhythm of the canter so it could work as an additional aid for those playing with realistic jumping. ๐ Currently the rhythm is fixed to a certain frequency.
This is continuation to my yesterday's post - the custom courses now also have maps on the Edit Arena screen. The map gets updated when you save the course.

The horses' stamina feature is going through some changes in the demo. From the next update onwards, if your horse runs out of long-term stamina (blue circle bar) during riding it will need to rest before it can be ridden again. The horse will recover automatically in a couple of minutes, in the meantime you can ride the other horses.
Currently the new stamina setting only affects free riding and competitions. You can still take a lesson on a horse even if it's resting. Short-term stamina (the jump energy bar) won't be affected.
You need to install the Patreon demo version to access the exclusive content. The demo game cannot automatically know that you became a patron as it's not connected to the internet.

Here's an in-depth tutorial on how to use the photo mode and the various features it has.
The pictures are currently stored in the folder C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\TalesOfReinRavine\Saved\Screenshots. At the end of the video (03:10 onwards) there's a tutorial on how to locate the screenshot folder on your computer. Changing the saving folder might become available in a later update.
1) Download BOTH of the TWO files attached to this post.
2) Put them in their own folder.
3) Double click the TORR_081_Installer.part1.exe file
4) Click Extract
5) Double click the Tales of ...
Clearing up some confusion with the Realistic Jumping setting!
On smaller fences your horse can attempt to save you even if you fail the striding, and it has enough time to do so. Watch the video - the first two tries the fence was so close that Spot didn't have time to correct me - but on the third try he corrected the striding and even cleared the jump.
This change has been in the game for a while, and it has caused confusion, because both of these scenarios registered with the BAD STRIDING flag. From ...

Fixed an issue where Damon wouldn't bolt towards crates even though he isn't afraid of them. Also most issues with first person camera have now been fixed.

Players have requested a feature to send their custom courses to a friend! But since Tales of Rein Ravine is an offline single-player game, sharing courses online isn't really a possibility.
However an alternative way to sharing your own courses with a friend is to send them your save file. Your friend needs to have installed the newest patreon demo update. In the video you can see how to locate your save file. By replacing the save file with another, and naming the one you want to use to save1.sav...
