Yep. Just me and the girls. Whole lotta talking going on... also some amazing meals and I hadn't seen so much laughing on La Vagabonde probably ever. There’s no better way to start your morning than a bit of yoga on deck, fresh air, and a swim. We explore the magical Moorea, one of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever seen on our voyage. Oh and I break the propellor........... Oooopssssieeee!!!! I’ll fix it even if it takes all year and I have to use scary power tools and stuff.

After 3 years of sailing the globe, everything we have worked so hard for has all lead to this. We have very exciting ideas and plans for the future, that includes our new 45ft Outremer catamaran currently being built in France. The new La Vagabonde will be ready in Feb next year for us to burn around the world in at lightening speed... We still can't believe it. Riley was devastated about our fishing rod getting stolen (as was I), and the memories of a GIANT tuna that he didn’t shoot had been lingering in his head, haunting him ever since the sighting. Add the no wind situation and the sails flapping… it was enough to send him to the drink. Join us for our 2 day sail to Tahiti. I get to play captain. It was a good trip oh yes it was.

Hey everyone!!!
We sailed more than half way around the world so that we could get to one of the most un touched and magical places on earth. I'm sure you're getting used to Riley's disaster fishing stories but he's TOTALLY redeemed himself after spearing his first Dogtooth Tuna!!! We are a couple of very happy little vegemites. Join us in Apataki - Tuamotus, one of our favourite sailing destinations thus far.

Hey everyone!! Join us on the beautiful island of Fakarava - Tuamotus. We get salty for a week straight, diving the North Pass where hundreds of sharks lurk beneath the surface. We absolutely love this place. Never leaving....

After two horrible days at sea in some rough weather, and literally getting SPAT through the south pass, we had finally made it to the island of Fakarava. Known for its world class diving in both the South and North pass, we couldn’t believe our eye balls!! We hired a little beach bungalow for the night, where we could watch the reef sharks casually swimming around just metres in front of our room while the new SLV episode was uploading. It hadn't happened yet, in the whole 2 years we have been sailing around the world BUT we had finally ran La Vagabonde completely out of food (apart from a few odd things we found scattered around in some dark and very scary places). Unfortunately, we had missed the ship in Nuku Hiva to stock up before leaving to the Tuamotus, and of course the only supermarket on the island of Raroia hadn’t had a ship of supplies come for the past 3 weeks…. so the no food situation quickly became a problem. We managed to catch a few fish, but after 2 weeks...

Hey everyone!!
We arrived at our first Atoll! I never realised just how remote the Tuamotus were, until we arrived at the tiny village. We explore the magical island, home to only 100 people. The nicest kind of people. The ones you can’t even walk past without them saying hello (and kissing you on the cheek, twice) and welcoming you to their island AND inviting you to their house for dinner. I think we have found paradise.

After the boys installed the new B&G gear and we took care of a few jobs on La Vagabonde, we were ready to set sail to the unchartered Tuamotus (or the Atolls). Not many people visit these islands because of a combination of the tides, currents and unpredictable weather (and because it is unchartered) can make for a perfect nightmare. But we were very excited to dive the spectacular passage where we had heard there was a huge party of every kind of sea creature!! Eeeeeek get excited for what’s up next. Join us in a traditional cooking lesson with Henry on the island of Nuku Hiva. Very simple, super delicious. Nothing beats eating from the earth. Cheers Henry, I hope you see this video! I know you don’t know what the internet is, but if you have kept my written instructions on that napkin then we will have no problems!! We also introduce you to fellow Aussie lose ends Mark and Travis who have also jumped in the deep end with the whole sailing thing. There first overnight sail was that of the Pacific Crossing……. HAHA. Good on you boys.

We sail to Hiva Oa, and checkout one of the most ancient Tiki sites in French Polynesia. Absolutely breathtaking! Riley also surprises me by booking a horse ride through the beautiful green valley of Atuona. These horses were a little crazy, but we made it out alive and it was such an incredible experience. We also indulge in the local food and say goodbye to Riley's dad - Tony :(

Well, we made it. 21 days at sea, just Riley Tony and me. What an adventure. If the rest of the Marquesas is anything like this magical island of Fatu Hiva, I will lose even more of my marbles. For me, sometimes extreme boredom, frustration with the motion of the boat, feeling isolated/alone, and missing friends and family bucket loads can lead to a little bit of a breakdown every now and then. I’m only human! There are always dramas onboard (EVERYONE has them), weather it be physical or mental.
When La Vagabonde has been rocking and rolling back and forth for 4 days straight, and I’ve been copping bruises from the furniture and hoping for the slightest break in the weather that never comes, a boiling pot of water bein...

A series of unfortunate events onboard La Vagabonde at the beginning of our trip. Some pretty bad rope burns for Tony and our auto pilot display completely conked out. Could we all last the next few weeks at sea hand steering around the clock, with only 3 of us onboard?? It was certainly ‘do-able’, but we knew this meant it was going to be an entirely different sail for us all. What a test. Stay tuned for part 2. Fingers crossed for no more drama!!

We say goodbye to Nicole and Joel (thanks for visiting guys, we had a blast!!!) and Rileys dad Tony arrives by plane from Australia to join us for the big Puddle Jump (Pacific Crossing). It was a busy few days getting La Vaga ready for the big trip, but before we knew it we were checked out of the country and free to leave! I was quite nervous losing sight of land, but more than that, I was super excited for what adventures lied ahead. No shoes for a few weeks yeeeeehah! Wish us luck.

My nerves for the Pacific Crossing (the 20-30 day’er) have been getting more and more intense. Most nights, for the past few weeks I have been having the most strangest dreams and unsettled sleeps. But I am really looking forward to the challenge of getting across such a large chunk of ocean! For the next week in Isla Isabella, we explore the beautiful island by bike and boat. The seals in the Galapagos had quickly claimed La Vagabonde as their new home. Initially, they were ‘cute’, but after a few days they became stinky (they stunk to begin with, but everyone has their flaws) and very unwelcome onboard!! Apparently they go to the toilet where they sleep… We go and checkout some giant tortoises, which were just the most incredible creatures. We dive Kicker Rock, which was quite deep but well worth the effort. Unfortunately the vis was quite bad down there due to the currents so we couldn’t capture to much on...

More about the pirate scare! The next 150nm of ocean until we reached the Galapagos Islands was quite enjoyable. We saw the most incredible things in the water, I started hearing things and Riley got a tiny little crab in his ear after scraping the hull. Each day we spend on the water these days seems to be full of surprises. As the sun was rising, I spotted the island of San Cristobal. Seals galore. 5 days at sea, sailing Panama to Galapagos (845 nm). It was good to set sail and be free of all things technology for a while (minus the cameras and video editing on the lappy….. But luckily I love that stuff). It was very calm for most of the trip. A BIG difference in weather if you compare it to the Caribbean, especially around Columbia!! Looking back, that was absolutely crazy. We couldn’t believe the amount of wild life we saw on this trip alone.
