Star Trek: The Next... Rewrite?

I've been toying with the idea of whether I should continue TNG and move away from all the stats. Or just start over and rewrite this thing again.

I started the story as a solo RPG, and after TPM chapter, I feel like it became an actual story because I moved away from the rolls.  Prior to the Cognus fight in the Tomb, I was literally rolling every round of combat like a DnD game.
