Roof top WIP

Ladies and Gentlemen,

let me show you all the roof options I have added so we can have a lot of unique looking buildings in a settlement. With the default roof having the opening in the center, I designed a couple of optional roof-tops that you can add.

Basically there are three types, one of which has three options. The simplest option is a closing cover, in case you don't want an open roof. Next is a raised tent-like which just repeats the roof shape in smaller scale. And then we have the raised flat roof. This one has a couple...

"Orc Hut" WIP

Ladies and gentlemen,

today I can show you my ideas on the roof variations. With the shape of the basic roof I am planning to have different options as "toppers". You can always go with "just the main roof" of course but to add variation options I will have different topping parts. 

This first one is a little raised roof version (that should work well for a chieftain or other important inhabitant). I also have a raised flat roof planned and a simple cover for when you don't an open roof (because rain and storms?).

Orc Huts WIP

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have been busy advancing the hut by adding more color options and trying out a crazy oversized tusk version. I am looking forward to when I arrive at the roof decoration as I want to try some big curved tusks there too.

But back to the "regular" options. I have added three colors next to the default mud brown one. We have "beast ochre", "lizard green" and "dragon red". I went for a little exotic hues of these colors for the fantasy crowd.

Orc huts WIP

Ladies and gentlemen,

it's again time to show some progress on the huts! I have added the leather skin texturing for the walls. In the pics you are seeing the base color version and there will be a few to choose from. The roof is an old prototype from when shortly before this whole thread of work went into hibernation. I will rework that so the style and color options will match those of the walls.

Orc huts WIP

Ladies and gentlemen, 

here's a little update on what I am going to call the "orc huts" for short as a working title. 

I needed to update the simple hexagonal wall shape which I did a couple of years ago, to reflect the changes I did with the roof geometry.

There I added an extra shape space for the rafts/beams that would hold the roof material in place. That way I could either just have it better textured or even add ornament elements like in the pic with the roof.

I have decided that for the next project I will go back to my "savage settlements" settings and finally return to getting my larger huts done. I started with the small huts and then run into challenges with texturing the next ones and then other settings took over :)

NVB5 expansion coming up soon!

Ladies and gentlemen,

after the stables I have one more expansion in the pipeline and it will allow you to build something like this by combining different parts from other sets.

As you can see the building related parts are done and I am working on adding a stone foundation platform for it. I am hoping for it to be releaseable end of next week.

Norse Stables WIP

I have quietly started working on a stables module for the Norse Village builder series. My goal with that one is add more variety to the setting and also to allow for a combination of buildings to form something larger.

I have made a special "high" version of the long house and combining it with the stables could give you this.

I am also working on a front "arcade" style entrance and have made some progress with test builds.

More Anvil WIP

Ladies and gentlemen,

I was able to make some more progress with the upcoming bit. I have tried to go for a simple furnace and found some new methods for making the stone which I like. I also textured the large anvil and added some hammers too.

I have yet to texture the small anvil and add a base for it. Also I want to make a little tong tool as that would be one of the basic tools used there.

With this pace I am confident I will be done before the holidays. Looking forward to a little break. Need a reset to get in a good p...

Anvils WIP

Ladies and gentlemen,

here's what I have been able to work on the last days. I have been trying out a couple of sizes for the anvils and I think I will settle for these two. One will go on a base (tree stump) and the other would work stand-alone. Both are large enough to not go crazy when building it, maybe a bit oversized but that will leave some room for texturing details (dwarf runes?).

End of year WIP

Ladies and gentlemen,

I have released the Prison Wagon set on both my shops now and am about to finish my insane full metal build. Which is a really good thing so I can start seriously with the anvil bit for this month.

I made a way too small prototype. It was a challenge for the eyes AND fingers so I will go for a much larger one for the real thing :) Somehow I thought anvils were that small but I was enlightened by my creator friends showing me lots of pics of quite large ones. Much better for the gaming table!

Prison Wagon WIP

I have added more variants to the prison wagon set. First of all I made a black version because that was the request I heard most often since I showed pics of the testbuild. And then I also added an "open" version with iron bars. My testbuild was a quick and easy build but one could cut out the spaces between the bars or cut them out completely and replace them with colored toothpicks!

Whetstone WIP and Wagon update

a quick update today for the upcoming basic bit: the whetstone.

I have made this test build and am very happy with it. You could even go more advanced and cut out all the black spaces but I didn't have much time today. the release of the wagon went very smoothly so far but there was one thing I heard again and again ... "Shouldn't the door be on the back?"

I am reaching the final stages with the first wagon. I have completed a couple of test builds ranging from simple box builds to advanced builds with double up details and am very happy with the design so far.

today I can show you some of the details/detailing I am up to with the wagon(s).

In order to enter the wagon, we need some stairs, so I made a simple 2D stair part and also a detailed 3D stairs option.

Vardo Wagon WIP

Ladies and gentlemen,

here's a little update on the progress of the wagon model. This is a first textured test build with the new "modular" and simplified undercarriage.

I have designed the undercarriage with simple blocks that - once textured - still should look real enough and allow a swiveling front axle. Plus it allows me to design new and different (larger, wider) undercarriages for more wagon types very fast now.

Wagon WIP

Ladies and Gentlemen,

tomorrow it's time for the Basic Bit release but today I want to share my progress on the wagons I am working on.

I have showed you the upper part of the wagon (or rather the first version of a wagon) and now I have locked the design of the undercarriage. While working on the graveyard hearse wagon in 2019 I made different versions ranging from a very simple box undercarriage to an advance and detailed version with springs and everything.

Norse theme showcase pics WIP

I wanted to show you the pics I have taken for promoting my Norse / Dark Age themed sets. I had some fun playing around on my 6x4 gaming table and using all the bits I could find that would make sense with this. I used different minis (regular and paperminis) to show how well the sets work with those.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I have added the log storage boxes and will have them released next week. This is giving me loads of ideas for similar stuff. Not only hacking, but sawing, smithing etc. lots of things to do in the future :) Do you have any special wishes in this direction?

I am off to attend to a nephews wedding for the weekend - the first real social event since two years basically - so wish me luck. We are all vaccinated, tested and have an arsenal of masks but it still feels strange. Hope we will come back to a "normal" ...

Late basic bit WIP ...

Ladies and gentlemen,

today I can start to show my progress with the wood chopper bit coming up. In addition to the actual chop block and an axe I also made some optional chopped logs for detailing. I know ... it's a little crazy :)

I also want to make a storage "box" for the chopped wood that you can use next to a house or in a shed.

Final WIP on the DAFB2 upgrades

Ladies and Gentlemen,

before I write anything else: it's the 15th and there is no basic bit finished! I am in the final steps of finishing the DAFB2 upgrades and I really want to get them out and done so that I can focus on the next process. Also last week there were two sunshine days and we packed out stuff and went hiking on the mountains again before winter comes.
