Behold, partial work stages for the image of Emp cosplaying Ninjette that appeared on the back cover of Empowered vol.7; alas, I couldn't dig up the piece's rough sketch or pencils. I could. however, dig up the photoref I used for that hachiwara she's holding.

VINTAGE CON SKETCHES: Dirty Pair variations from 2000, pt.2

Digging back through my slowly but inexorably dwindling backlog of old Dirty Pair con sketches for this week's set, folks! (Someday, as with my likewise shrinking supply of life drawings, I'll have to shift to fewer images per Vintage Con Sketch post to conserve the resource.)

When I was cranking these DP pieces out en masse, I would constantly try out costume, hair, and facial-design variations of Kei & Y**i in a dogged attempt to keep myself interested....

Work stages on EMPOWERED vol.7's cover illo (my favorite of the series, BTW)!

Given that I haven't done an "Empowered cover illo work stages" post in quite a while, I'm not quite sure whether or not I've already covered (ha ha!) vol.7's fine illustration. Wellp, here it is anyway!

Line art by me, with truly excellent colors by Joe Weltjens of Guru eFX. Despite some flaws on my illustrative end, the completed cover illo for vol.7 remains probably my favorite one from the entire series, in large part due to the beautiful color work.
