Live-streaming makes me nervous.
Do it anyway!
I’m live-streaming on YouTube tonight beginning at 8 Pm Eastern time. I’ll be painting the Everready 9 Lives cat! A lovely logo that I remember from household batteries when I was a kid.
I’m working through the butterflies in my stomach, and I’m sure that the more often I do this, the easier it will become!

It was a good day for a sewing project. As the heat and humidity increases going into summer, I’ll need some vests for easy breezy walks!

I try to share the stuff that comes out well and the stuff that isn't quite there yet. I was trying for a specific look and didn't quite nail it here, HOWEVER, the look that I achieved on accident is really cool. so I added some music from the Pixies and I hope that you enjoy!

Here, a collection of moments in slow motion, sometimes overlayed with corresponding motions, and set to music. I am eternally inspired by the human form, how it moves, and how it looks in action. This is a behind the scenes look at using myself as the subject.

My sketches have been tiny of late because I ran out of large sheets of paper. I’ve ordered new tablets of newsprint, which will be here on Saturday. Many thanks to you for supporting a living artist! It’s your support that enables me to order art supplies . Today’s selfie in 3 parts is inspired by Rosie the Riveter.
2023-05-18 22:22:22 +0000 UTC View PostMy Wednesday walk was greeted by full-blown summer heat and humidity. As I walked I felt a sense of nostalgia as if I'd run into a long lost friend. which in some sense is true because I haven't felt weather like this since last year! I was grateful to have my hair up and off of my neck and a shirt that allowed the breeze to cool me.
I was recently asked how I get away with walks like this. I've never seen my top free or open top walks in a sense of getting away with a thing. It isn't an act of deviance. I see it as an act of equ...

The rain falls gently
A frog croaks in the distance
Singing happy praise.
It was in fact still gently raining when I got into garland pose (also referred to as squat pose, malasana in sanskrit) for today's instant pic. It was the froggiest pose I could think of, and I wanted to sit a moment in solidarity with my croaky friend. Awkward as it was for me to strike such a pose, it's even more awkwardly sketched. Sometimes figure drawings just make sense, other times, not so much!

Because sometimes, I just have to be silly in the hot sun of the backyard.
Because sometimes, I have to highlight the humor of a rock song from 1977.

Happy Friday! For today’s selfie in three parts, I present a sketch of my imagined approximation of a pirouette. It’s true that as I kid I’d spin for hours. I briefly took ballet lessons where I learned the secret to spot turning and not getting dizzy. I’d make it a game to turn as many times as possible on one leg, then try to beat my last record.
The instant picture was my effort at trying to spin today. Not on one leg. ...

When I come here I can imagine that I'm in any number of tropical and exotic places. There are birds and frogs making noises just out of sight. Sometimes a lizard or snake hurries off of the path. It really is lovely.

I so enjoy observing nature! May has brought so much green and growth.
For today’s gesture drawing, I mixed it up a bit with a line drawing. The idea being to never lift the drawing tool from the paper, just using a continuous line to convey as much as possible. It forces me to be a bit more confident and decisive about my marks. You will likely see more of these to come.

Accompanying the dance in celebration of the movement of a circle skirt, is music that reminds me of traditional Hispanic music of Northern New Mexico.

The point of the gesture drawings has been to work quickly, but I feel as if I had spent more time on drawing my hand it would have undoubtedly turned out a little better. As it is, it didn't turn out quite to my standards. This frustration or lack of skill resulted in today's haiku.
