EDIT - Minor change that I think looks better

Commentary

My dictionary says "NO!" to Grace’s definition, but it ALSO defines flirting as amorous behavior WITHOUT serious intent? As in, it would only be “flirting” if you specifically weren’t interested in something happening.

I've always thought of that as being a type of flirting, not the only type of flirting there ...

Edit - Dialogue balloon fix

Commentary

I do believe it is possible to impulsively flirt without that being one's conscious intent. We are definitely capable of acting prior to understanding why we're doing what we're doing.

Please note that this is NOT the same as someone mistakenly believing someone else is flirting.

That's not flirting without meaning to. That's one perso...

- At egscomics

Commentary

I hadn't planned for panel two to be a fantasy panel, but I decided I wanted an interesting visual for my comic that happens to be a visual medium.

My intent with rounded borders in black (as opposed to grey) is that the visual isn't literal, but the dialogue is. I imagine this is obvious in context, but I also needed text to write in my commentary that happens to be a text medium.

Looking cool

- At egscomics

Commentary

I considered many names for this character, including ones that were suggested by readers.

One name I felt would have worked would have been Clark, Superman’s real first name, but I also felt it was a little too on the nose for the big guy in glasses. A good name, and one I might choose if roleplaying as someone like this, but not the best choice for a canonical comic name.

As I was...

- At egscomics

Commentary

Oh, he knew. He planned it all! For WEEKS, he KNEW he could get Grace to hit herself with a volleyball if he only chose his moment!

Or, more likely, he did not.

Confession: While it was in-character for Justin to caution Grace about showing off her super cool strength (he is a genre savvy super hero fan, after all), the actual reason I wrote him doing so was so he'd be...

Justin might have a point, but the it's basically 100% guaranteed the lesson Grace takes away from this is to just use her super cool strength whenever and wherever.

Flexing Grace

egscomics post Flexing Grace from patreon

Grace thought the young man who was challenging her strength had every reason to feel confident. Grace knew that simply looking bigger and stronger didn’t mean much. Beyond the simple fact that show muscle was a thing, neither Grace nor Nanase looked exceptionally strong, but either one of them could lift this guy over their heads.

This did not mean he wasn’t strong, however, or that she was stronger. The natural flexing of his biceps as he moved his arms couldn’t be missed, and his pecs seemed to threaten violence upon the shirt...

Elliot is doing their best to not be scary!

They had assumed their smallest feminine form (in terms of height, anyway), but for whatever reason, people still seem to be intimidated!

Elliot decided to go smaller, and was trying to just be four inches shorter. They accidentally imagined the proportions wrong, however, and became curvier.

Is that the only mistake they made?

Ashley will helpfully be with Elliot for size co...

Naturally, by Nanase's standards, you don't worry until it's one of the last two.

These are not normal standards.

Please do not go by them.

Fun fact, I have a medicine ball! For anyone who doesn't know, a medicine ball is a weighted ball for use in exercise. A long time ago, I impulsively bought one because I thought "yes. This is a thing I will exercise with." View Post

Commentary

Okay, before I actually comment on anything, this is the comic for 02-22-2022, and I just think that's neat.

If you want to write that 2022-02-22, that is also neat. The point is there's a lot of 2.

Also, I like overly-optimistic smiling Grace with her hands on her hips, and am certain she will return many times in the future.

My apologies for the delay.

I feel bad after a delay last week, but I feel it's necessary.

This comic was delayed for writing reasons. They weren't super complicated writing reasons, but I was tired, and they seemed very complicated at the time to me?

- At egscomics

Those last couple of sound effects probably shouldn't be taken literally.

Probably.

I mean, maybe one of the students is a fan of fighting games, and they said those?

The exact spacing and angles in panel two also probably shouldn't be taken literally. I just felt hitting the borders illustrated what happened with the greatest clarity.

Just Not Sure - Susan and Catalina

egscomics post Just Not Sure - Susan and Catalina from patreon

First version Susan is in long pants, second version Susan is (presumably) in shorts.

Story A:

Catalina was in a cat form. This much was obvious to Susan.

What was not obvious to Susan, however, was whether that proved Catalina had cat-themed magic. This was evidence in its favor, certainly, but there were other factors to consider.

For example, the collar Catalina was wearing. Susan believed a collar, if you weren't Rhoda, was an odd thing to wear. Odd things weren't automatically enchanted, but Susa...

I really wasn't sure how big to make the volleyball.

I looked up how big volleyballs were, but that wasn't the issue. Scale in comics with stylized characters gets weird, as everything is relative.

An accurately sized volleyball might not look too small relative to the character's body, but what about when compared to the cartoonishly-proportioned head and hands?

And what about charact...
