We checked into this lovely hotel for a two night stay so that we could show you how lovely it is! We took time and enjoyed each others company and we decided to have a few drinks along the way. Then we were off to take you sailing on an America's Cup sailboat!

Our New Year's Resolution

Happy New Year Patrons!!!

Well this is easy…our resolution is to find the new boat! Obviously that's easier said than done. Deciding between a Catamaran and Monohaul is turning out to be more difficult than we thought. We're in luck though! 

In exactly 10 days we're jumping aboard our friends Antares 44 Catamaran for a few weeks. Now, we know that this isn’t even close to what we can afford, these things run around $1 million, but we think it'll help us work out some of the many questions we have about these large vessels. ...

She carried her new family into the sunset today as they motored out of the marina...Headed for a journey of their own. That's wonderful and sad at the same time! 

We only showed her to one interested couple since posting her for sale in September, they are the ones that bought her. That wasn't due to lack of interest...We had a lot of inquiries! It had to do with us not being sure if we REALLY were ready to sell he...

Hello beautiful Patrons! 

I just wanted to let you know that I'm still working with Patreon about the lack of my ability to reply to comments left on this site. I have no idea what's up and they keep pointing at my browser...Even though it isn't working on that or two separate phones. :-/ It's not my browser.

Update!

Hopefully I’m not putting my foot in my mouth but a future sale on the Lazy Gecko looks promising!! 

As you know, we're planning on selling the Lazy Gecko which is up on the hard in Key West, Florida. She's been sitting there very lonely, we've not been able to show her because of our travels to view other boats.

America's Cup!

Hello my lovely Patrons!

Last weekend we were lucky enough to hop onboard the Stars & Stripes, an America's Cup sailboat and take her for a 3 hour long sail! It was in San Diego and we sailed the bay. The weather was a little overcast but the winds were at about 12knts out of the north so it worked out perfectly! 

During the sail we got to crank the wenches, man the helm and more. The boat handled SO well! She turned on a dime as we tacked over and over. One thing that shocked me was how close we'd get to other sailing vessels ...

Sailing Catalina Island!

Yesterday we sailed a 1970's Cross 39 trimaran (actually this one was a 42 because of an extension of the stern) around Catalina Island and it was awesome! 

The sailing around Catalina features spectacular views, beautiful wildlife and great winds! We were cruising in a light 10 knot wind all day, it was pretty perfect!

This is the first trimaran that we had been on. It was like a mix of a cat and a monohull. While it was fast and steady, we still like either a monohull or a cat and will be keeping both on our lists of boats to pur...

Update on the boat!

We've had so many calls and emails on the Lazy Gecko that it's crazy. I'd say about 4 of them are serious buyers looking to purchase a boat now. As you probably saw on the last video (Vimeo version), we've been holding off on showing her because of the uncertain market after Irma shook everything up. Not only for our boat but as far as buying another one! The word is that values are going to increase because of the lack of boats left from the storm. From our experience in talking with others, they're finding that a lot of the market on the sout...

Hurricane Insurance!

We'd like to take a moment to congratulate one of our Patrons on buying their first floating home! How awesome is that?! 

They've owned pleasure boats in the past, but never as their full-time home. After their purchase, they sent us some questions concerning hurricane insurance so I thought that might be a good topic to post about! 

We have Geico Marine Insurance. We used to go with liability only until hurricane Matthew came through. Sitting there knowing that our insurance wouldn't do a thing if the boat was damaged sucked....

What have those Geckos been up to?

Last weekend we attended the Southern California Boat Show at Calibro Marina. This is near L.A., we were lucky enough to get a room right at the marina! This made getting back and forth pretty easy. This is only the 2nd year for the show, we didn't know how great it would be due to it's young age. We ended up being pleasantly surprised!   

The sail side was smaller than the Annapolis show but about the same as the Miami Boat show. The quality of boats made up for any shortage of boats, however. We saw beautiful monohauls as well as ...

What an awful tragedy. We hope that each of you, your family and your friends are all safe and were not involved in yesterdays shooting in Las Vegas.

We have family (brother, sister in law and nephew) and friends that live there, one friend is a police officer. He wasn't on duty last night, we're thankful none of them were involved. 

We are terribly saddened by this senseless act, it also makes us very angry. Again, we hope you and yours are ok and weren't effected by this coward.

This episode makes me cry!! LOL...I'm a sucker for anything sentimental and this one touches my heart. :)
